The Historic Village of Hollókő

Hollókő Old Village has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. The houses of the original village were destroyed by fire in 1909. The restoration took place between 1909-1911, during which the original layout of the village as well as the ’palóc’ style buildings (mud walls, rafters, shingled hipped rooves) were kept and were re-erected on stone foundations. As a result, visitors today can enjoy this unique unified building heritage site. (distance 9km)
